Quitting via email is not exactly the professional thing to do. That being said, it's certainly the kind of behavior many employees wish they could get away with when announcing their sudden departure at a company. Sure, it's common practice to give two weeks' notice and to help tie loose ends and get materials organized and ready for whoever is unlucky enough to be your replacement.

Still, if we were to indulge in the fantasy of quitting on the spot, it's a lot more enjoyable to imagine how completely lost everyone would suddenly be without you. Keep scrolling below for this employee's iconic resignation email!

  • This employee gave little to no explanation besides citing how underpaid and disrespected they have been since they started working at the company. Their mentality was to give their boss the same energy and attention when quitting that their boss gave them while they were working at the company, and it's kind of iconic. Who else wishes they had the audacity to send an email like this?

  • Several members of the community followed up with the employee for more information about their exit. Clearly, folks were vicariously living through this now former employee's experience. It's obviously unrealistic to imagine most workers carrying out the same actions, but we can at least dream while we can!

Like, do you really think you deserve a two week notice? Based on the way you treat people, do you think they can mentally handle. another two weeks?

    From Home 9 hr. ago "Would you give me two weeks notice if you fired me?" I always prefer to throw management's stupid BS back at them so they realize how stupid they sound. It's a way better burn because while management thinks they're smarter than everyone else, they really dislike having their corporate nonsense destroyed with a single sentence.
